Perfect Love...

This last summer, we were at a BBQ and Patrick was looking especially stylish in his cargo shorts and brown Hawaiian shirt... I wasnt expecting to take this photo, but it is a wonderful look at the love Grandparents and Grandchildren share... and notice, during his walk, he's barefoot, just like his Momma...

This is a Welsh Proverb that I have had since I was pregnant with Patrick... when I was growing up, next to my Mom, my Grandparents were the best part of my growing up. Doing Genealogy and going through countless photos, I see the love that I have for them, in Patricks eyes, when he looks at his Grandparents... Grammy, Nana and Papa

Family Love!!!

I was noticing that this is a scrapbook blog, and I rarely post scrapbook pages, well that is going to change, more layouts. I am a crafty person, and for some reason this year, even though we are super broke, I am paying attention to the scrapbook, paper medium world again. I need to say, that it has nothing to do with the fact that my man got a job offer... woohoo!!! We are extremely thrilled that one of us found a wonderful job in this tough economy... ok, enough about that, its time to talk about Scrapbooking. :)

Starbucks.... Patrick is taking orders

This is my son Patrick.. Christmas 2009, our cousin Jennifer asked him to come with her to her room, having not been around her more than twice, he went with her, willingly. She took him into her room and out he walked with his very own Starbuck Barista Apron.. what a site, I think I'm the only one on both sides that doesn't drink coffee... he was playing in Aunt Linda's kitchen cupboards, and found her Starbuck cup, very cute photos, and it took me a while to make this lay out, but so very glad that I waited.

CupCake Toppers......

Since discovering I have been messing around with making the toppers for cards.. here are two cards that I made for Valentines day using the cupcake toppers from Printablepartykits.com, I hope to post more as I printed out several items.

I am still working on my craft in taking photos of my completed works... sometimes they turn out great, other times they look like a train wreck. But alas, the point is made.

Craft Gossip

Yesterday I was playing with my phone, and I found a new app, I wanted something for reading news, etc, and I came across Pulse App, I down loaded it, and once you start messing with the settings it can really cut down on reading the news, reviews, blogs, etc, and one of the "set" websites for a search I did on Crafts, was Craft Gossip, I have to give two thumbs up to this website. They have something there for everyone.

I was looking through their website, and came across my first project, Printable Cupcake Toppers... well, I didnt see cupcake toppers, I saw circle punches for greeting cards... I hope to have time to make cards tonight for Valentines day and then get them posted.

And when I get some more black ink, Im going to print out the Animal Safari toppers that I found on the recommended site, which is http://www.printablepartykits.com I'm going to make a few scrapbook pages with these for my son's album, for his 2nd Birthday!!!

They have so much to offer a person.

Scrapbooking the Scrapbooker

I started out scrapbooking the things that I did and the places that I went and it filled my need. Now that I am a mother I spend my scrapbooking moments, working on layouts of my son and the things that he sees, does, experiences. I have gotten behind on his pages, approximately 8 months behind. I was sorting through all the photos today and came across my "old life".

The single life, the travels and journeys that I took in my younger wilder days. I know that eventually I will make my life's book, and pass it on to my son, what I am thinking though, is telling my story, for him. I have had quite the adventurous life, and now that he is here, the adventures are just expanding.

I have two photo boxes that are completely full of photos, and to be honest, I have no idea how I want to do it. It will be in a 8x8 book, I have a lot of photos but just want to minimize all the photos. One or two per page, and share the story, the moment, and possibly the dream or nightmare that followed. The friends that I have/had and their stories.. Life is a journey and I think I am going to try and scrapbook my journey. Not sure where I start, but as long as the dates are in order, I think that will be easy to organize.

I should probably tell my bf to go get my a refill ink cartridge for my printer, since my story is going to be long. LOL

Christmas Layouts..

I sent my photos to snapfish the other day when they had that free offer.. I got them back and last night sat down for the first time in weeks to scrapbook. Holy Cow I had so much fun, when you haven't scrapbooked for a while, you can forget how it feels. Being back in school, mother to very busy toddler, and spouse to a wonderful man, it can be very easy to let the little things get backed up, and for me, its scrapbooking. But I made my first layout last night, and its done, but I might add a few little sometimes to it, to really make it pop out, or I might leave it. But it's very cute. I hope to get it scanned later today and share it with all of you.

Waterfall Stamped Card

I was given a card like this for Christmas a few years ago and i wanted to make them, but never got instructions, and then, lost the card, so i couldnt even make a template. But through scrapbook.com I posted a question on the forum, and got these directions... http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/waterfall_card/

And after picking my colors, and not doing them exactly like the instructions said, I picked different colors for certain parts.. just to make it fit the papers i was going to be using. Which right now, are halloween papers.

After you pull on the tab, the tiles fall like a waterfall..

Free Fonts

are you a scrapbooker, stamper, card maker, crafter?? Do you like trying new fonts but dont want to pay? Then head over to http://www.dafont.com, they have the largest free selection that I know of. I have downloaded several dozen just to my personal collection. They are wonderful to print on vellum. There is another website, http://www.acidfonts.com

Both have directions on how to save your fonts to your computer so that you can use them whenever you like. Easy to do, and well, FREE! Also, if you have a program to make your own fonts, they also have easy upload instructions as well.

SnapFish!!!!

I am in love with snapfish, I just cant say it enough.. By the time I take my photos, and upload them to snapfish, pay a small amount, nothing compared to Target, or even costco.. and put my order thru, I have my photos back in my hand and ready to scrapbook. They have some wonderful projects as well, and I am getting ready to start my Christmas gift list and some of them will be through Snapfish.

On average before snapfish I paid .30 cents for a photo, usually because I didnt want to have to make two trips to the store, one to put in my order and two, to pick them up. Usually I would pay the extra money and do instant photos.

Now with snapfish, holy cow, I just load them up, select the ones I want printed, pay, poof, within like 4 days I have my photos. And they are delivered to my mailbox. We are a one car family, so this is totally convenient for us.

Thank you snapfish, I know there are other competitors out there, but none with the prices like snapfish, but more importantly, the extra projects. Thank you!!!

Its That Time Again... Holiday Cards

It is almost that time of the year, where my sole focus is on my cards for the holidays.. I have had a set schedule for years, and it has worked well for me. But this year I have to fudge the timing a bit.

In a couple of weeks I will start making my Halloween Cards so that I can mail them on October 13th, my grandma's birthday coincidentally. Then, Halloween night while the trick or treaters are out and about, I would be passing out candy, and starting on Christmas cards. I usually make about a 100 cards.

This year, I may have to fudge the timing. For the first time ever I will be sharing Halloween with a family. My family. I have a young son who will be almost 16 months on Halloween and I will be doing activities with him, but after he goes to bed, I will start on my Christmas Cards. Around Thanksgiving I start sketching out what I want my cards to look like, but for the most part, I have already bought the paper.

Since adding a spouse and a child to my life, I have also added so many new people, who will all be getting a card from us.

Google Reader

The more I have been working online, and using blogspot, blogger.com or Google. I have seen so many new things. Google Reader is wonderful, especially if you follow a lot of blogs, like I do. You can quickly skim thru your blogs, read the ones that you really want to. Or mark as read for others.. save them, delete them, instead of having to go to every single blog.

I have been making invitations all day today, and will continue til I get at least 40 of them done.. they are all different, all unique, and well, I wont be doing it this way again. Haha but its been so much fun, especially when I get to mail them to the four corners of the USA for a huge party for my MIL. Very excited about seeing anyone and everyone!!! I hope that they can all make it..

Scrapbooking your Scrapbook...

sounds weird, but I have been scanning my layouts, and then loading them up to shutterfly.com and blurb.com and printing out my album and giving them as gifts. Currently I am working on my sons first year album. I only have a few pages scanned, but I am very excited for everyone to be getting his book as a gift.. this is a great idea and I am so glad that I found out about this...

Wedding Card..

So usually when I got to make a card, i already have an image in mind, mainly because I know the person well or well enough to know what he or she would like.. this come like this rapidly, but this card, it took me forever to pick just paper out.

This is a wedding card for friends of my boyfriend, and finally I was going thru my huge stock of paper, and found the perfect piece, its simply called Love Birds... that sounds pretty appropriate. Then when I started stamping the sentiment, I didnt have the right color lavender, it was either to pink or to purple.. so I settled on the dark brown, and I think that it turned out nice. I will probably add some ribbon to it, just to give it a bit more flare.

Choosing Color

nearly every day I am working on something new, a card, a layout, a gift album, and I am so picking with my colors, i will put off a project til I can get to the store to find that perfect color match.. anyone else out there that can confirm this ?? I am sure there are... Just makes me laugh sometimes that I simple card will take me sometimes an hour to make LOL Right now I'm working on a wedding card.. the perfect paper, its not quite pink, not quite lavender, and i dont have any stamp ink that will match or even go with the flow... so what do I do, I use dark brown, because that is also in the paper... and it works.. I hope to finish the card sometime soon, the wedding is Saturday, August 5th, 2009... today is monday, we will see what happens. I have also been known to change the whole project and make an entirely new card...
